A picture of John Morris

John Morris

Lord John Morris was elected to represent the Labour Party in 1959 when he became MP for Aberafan, and held this seat until his retirement in 2001 – the longest period for any Welsh Member. As a member of the House of Commons and the House of Lords he served under ten Labour leaders – from Hugh Gaitskell until Jeremy Corbyn.
He held some of the most senior roles in the Government and the Opposition, as Attorney General and Welsh Secretary, as well as other administrative roles, during turbulent times, such as the war in the old Yugoslavia, and he travelled the world with his work. His history chronicles a period of 60 years in the political world, and brings us to the most controversial time, the posibility of leaving the European Union.
