J. Elwyn Hughes

Brodor o Ddyffryn Ogwen yw J. Elwyn Hughes ac ef yw un brif haneswyr lleol y fro honno, er ei fod yn byw ym Methel, Arfon, ers rhai blynyddoedd bellach. Ar ôl graddio mewn Cymraeg ac Astudiaethau Celtaidd ac ennill M.A. mewn Addysg yng Ngholeg y Brifysgol, Bangor, dychwelodd yn syth o'r coleg i'w hen ysgol (Ysgol Dyffryn Ogwen, Bethesda) i fod yn Bennaeth Adran y Gymraeg, wedyn yn Ddirprwy Brifathro ac yna'n Brifathro'r un Ysgol. Yn 1988, penodwyd ef yn Gyfarwyddwr y Ganolfan Astudiaethau Iaith, ond bellach, mae'n Ymgynghorydd Iaith hunangyflogedig ac yn cynnal gweithdai iaith, yn darlithio ar iaith a chrefft cyfieithu (yn ogystal ag ar ei fro enedigol a'i llenorion), ac yn olygydd ac awdur prysur iawn. Anrhyddeddwyd ef yr Wisg Wen yn Eisteddfod Llanelwedd yn 1993 am ei gyfraniad i'r Gymraeg.
